These are the documents Local 406 President Mike LaSpina used during the chapel meetings on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, that explain the impetus for the proposed merger between GCC/IBT Locals 406 and 119.
They are from minutes of the GCC/IBT General Board meeting in July. The excerpts explain the international union’s decision to encourage the mergers of locals. On the last page is a list of the small locals that were transferred into District Councils.
The Local 406 Executive Board believes the best choice for 406 members is to merge with Local 119 of East Farmingdale and preserve Local 406’s autonomy and representation.
