The parent union of Local 406 is reorganizing under a new name, the Printing, Packaging, and Production Workers Union (PPPWU). As part of the changes, there will be an election of a delegate and an alternate from Local 406 to the first conference of the renamed organization in Las Vegas held in August 2023.
A PPPUW amendment mandates that each local elect the delegate and alternate to a 5-year term to represent the membership.
Local 406 President Mike LaSpina will explain further during the general meeting May 17 on Zoom. (Watch for the Zoom links the week of the meeting.)
Here are the official rules on the delegate election from President LaSpina.
Nominations for one delegate and one alternate to the inaugural convention of the Printing, Packaging and Production Workers Union of North America will be accepted from the floor at the meeting at the date, time and place indicated below. The term each delegate and alternate will serve is for 5 years beginning August 1, 2023.
Elected delegates will have the authority to amend the constitution and laws of the
PPPWU of North America and elect the officers and the general board members from their locals' region during the convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, in August 2023.
