Letter from member Nicole Fuller endorsing candidate LaSpina
The choice in the upcoming election for president is 100% crystal clear for me: Mike LaSpina is the only candidate with experience and disposition to effectively and responsibly lead the union.
I want someone with a proven track-record of success. What does that look like? Our current contract: an eight percent raise over four years in what is frankly a terrible fiscal environment for the news media.
And I want a union president who’s confident and has an “I got this” attitude and who’s not motivated by petty grievances and personal score-settling.
Mike is the only candidate who has sat at the negotiating table, whether for a new contract or to defend a member in a disciplinary proceeding. Period. Anyone that thinks they can waltz in and achieve some lucrative, mega-deal because they think they’re just so much smarter than everyone else is simple delusional. Put somebody in there with no experience and see what happens. Management will eat them alive. Unhappy with your 2% annual raises, how about a pay cut?
I’m not willing to gamble with my livelihood.
If anyone wants to audit the union’s spending, or investigate any other aspect of the organization, go for it. If you want a say in working conditions or other contract proposals, bring your ideas to union leadership.
And please, vote for Mike when your ballot arrives at your home. He’s the only responsible, sane choice for union president. I’m crystal clear about that.
